What Our Volunteers Do
Volunteers with the Resilience Prison Project equip themselves and inmates with the knowledge and skills needed for real transformation. In addition to our trauma informed training courses, you will also learn and share nonviolent communication, restorative justice, and mindfulness.


Gain insight into empathetic and effective communication. Foster a deeper understanding of emotions and needs.

Skills and Certifications – Adults in custody benefit from your support as they earn certifications. These include courses licensed by the Community Resilience Initiative: Trauma Informed (RTA Course 1), Trauma Supportive (RTA Course 2), Trauma Practitioner (RTA Course 3). Further, they also learn NVC, restorative justice, and mindfulness practices. This equips them with valuable life skills.

How to Get Involved

Official ODOC Training – To work with incarcerated individuals, you must complete the official volunteer training provided by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections (ODOC). Visit the ODOC volunteer pageto sign up for this essential training, which includes obtaining the required badge to enter ODOC prisons.
Weekly Classes – Once you’re equipped with the necessary training, you will be a part of our weekly classes, where you’ll share your knowledge and support adults in custody on their transformative journey.
Certifications and Learning – As you progress, you can earn certifications related to our program. Your commitment to continuous learning will deepen your impact.
